I'm fairly positive I have a brilliant group of friends.
This was confirmed yesterday. I have been working as costume designer for a short film and I destroyed my bedroom in the process. It was so organised at the beginning but towards the end a mixture of frantic sewing, lack of sleep and a temper tantrum with a suitcase full of vintags dresses meant my room resembled that of a stereotypical teenager (there was even old plates of Chinese take-away. The plates make it more grown up than foil tubs. Because I'm an adult now. Apparently)
The last day of shooting was insane. But we finished.
Driving home I was so excited about bed but totally dredding my self inflicted doom.
But instead of Crud (whinnie the pooh reference for those in the know) the was fairy lit gloriousness.
Two of those amazing friends had not only tidied my room while I was working, but also arranged it beautifully. I was close to tears with joy and appreciation.
Still am now.

random acts of awesomeness

casual friday.
I'm not a jeans t-shirt and trainers girl. I'm a Brogues, chinos and silk shirt girl. But recent bouts of on set costume stand-by work and the purchase of a particularly garish pair of Nike Airs, stirred by a small section on the dress down chic of trainers in Wednesday's London Evening Standard has got me thinking maybe I could be a trainer girl.

start the way you intend to continue.
I don't do new year resolutions. After all, rules were made to be broken. But every year I promise myself to spend more time with my friends. So I kicked off 2012 in the perfect way. Curled up in bed all day with a group of my closest friends watching Youtube videos and bad films, eating chocolate fingers, Herschey's Kisses and drinking gallons of tea. Our day in videos went a little something like this:
And this little gem of Chris Mintz-Plasse and Dave Franco which for one reason or another I can't seem to link to like the other videos.
I got a C in ICT GSCE, it's a wonder I worked out how to make a blog in the first place.
Then we bough pizza and the only thing there was left to do was settle in with some quality examples of film-making.
2012, you are already set up to be a fine year of taste, sophistication and productivity.

My best friend (who is a boy) and myself fully intend on doing this as fancy dress one day.
Which is okay because Bill Murray and Sam Rockwell are in it. Right?
Who cares, I want them all to be friends.

adieu 2011.
I don't remember seeing in 2011. I was in a reasonably terrible bar in Ascot surrounded by people I didn't know (lovely people but unknown people nontheless) save for one friend who came to the rescue when my orginial plans fell through. I ended up being put in a cab to go home early and being really rather sick.
It's not the best start to a year.
At the beginning of the year I was working three jobs. Two different waitress jobs to keep my head above the water and freelancing to attempt to push my "career" forwards. I did every short film, feature or tiny bit of experience that came my way. All unpaid. Then I got a properly paid job designing the costumes for a feature. It was minimum wage but it was paid. I had to quit my waitress jobs to do it. I thought it was the start of my career. It wasn't. It was horrendously unproffessional, I didn't get paid and I quit the job halfway through. Thankfully, the incredibly kind people at Porters and Bedgebury Pineatery took me back.
I had no money. I felt sick with worry.
And then, a few days after my birthday in May, I got a phone call to come and do a couple of days work as a runner for the costume department on a feature. And this happened.
And then this happened. Then this.
I feel incredibly lucky right now. Here's hoping 2012 will be as kind.

The new addiction.
It's amazing what can happen over Christmas. Thanks to the presence of two grandmothers and a gift from my mum, I'm now a knitter.

settled.
Finally, I have a place in London (well, Acton) to call home. After 2 years of calling in a lot of favours from a lot of people, I can finally come home to my own room, make tea in my own kitchen and keep my shampoo in my own shower (you'd be suprised how much a difference just being able to leave your shampoo in a shower can make to your life!)
I moved here with no furniture and after a difficult bed decision, a nightmare trip to IKEA and a bit of trawling around 2nd hand shops, last night I flattened my last cardboard box.
Now all I need is more picture frames. I'm a great believer that one can never have enough picture frames.

Ring from Cos. I've only just discovered them (I'm slow, I know). Trying to not spend money in there is like trying to tell yourself you don't need tequila on a night out.
Oh yeah, and Christmas and stuff.
